Hello World

I’m yawnbox, welcome to my blog. I am a privacy and security engineer living in the Pacific Northwest. In 2010, I started running Tor relays. Between 2013 and 2016, I was part of the Seattle Privacy Coalition, I was an Encryption Evangelist intern at the ACLU of Washington, I was Tor Project’s first full-time grant writer, and I started mining Zcash on day one of launch. In 2017, I founded Emerald Onion, a U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity and human rights nonprofit focused on developing internet privacy infrastructure. Then in 2018, I spoke at DEF CON 26 about creating Emerald Onion. Most recently, in 2021, I joined the Zcash Community Advisory Panel. Privacy is a human right, 'crypto' means 'cryptography'; use Tor, use Signal.
